Ce mois-ci, le marché des VLGC est resté stable, oscillant autour de 30 000 $ par jour en raison de possibilités d'arbitrage limitées. Le marché morose de cette année a été influencé par une activité réduite, mais les taux pourraient rebondir après l'hiver à mesure que l'arbitrage s'améliore. Fearnley Securities anticipe un potentiel de hausse au second semestre de 2025, avec l'expansion de la capacité d'exportation des États-Unis – ce qui pourrait entraîner une augmentation des taux. En regardant plus loin, on prévoit que 2026 sera une année solide, avec une croissance de 7,9 % du commerce en tonne-milles de GPL et d'ammoniac, dépassant l'augmentation de 6,8 % de la flotte. Les expansions des terminaux aux États-Unis et au Moyen-Orient ainsi qu'une croissance de 8 % des importations asiatiques renforcent encore une perspective positive à long terme, malgré les incertitudes commerciales persistantes entre les États-Unis et la Chine. Le segment de l'ammoniac prend de l'élan après un investissement massif de l'UE Le mois de février a été favorable pour l'ammoniac, marqué par l'investissement de 422 millions d'euros de l'UE dans les carburants alternatifs, soutenant les infrastructures de carburants propres, y compris l'alimentation à quai, le ravitaillement en hydrogène et les installations d'ammoniac/méthanol. Ce financement renforce la viabilité à long terme du transport maritime alimenté à l'ammoniac, profitant au portefeuille VLAC de European Maritime Finance. De plus, le premier contrat d'affrètement à temps pour un navire fonctionnant à l'ammoniac a été signé ce mois-ci.
