Ces initiatives témoignent de la volonté croissante des acteurs du secteur maritime d’investir dans des solutions concrètes et innovantes pour réduire l’empreinte carbone du transport maritime à grande échelle. **Les essais moteurs à l’ammoniac révèlent une réduction des émissions pouvant atteindre 95 %** Selon les récentes analyses de la Getting to Zero Coalition du Global Maritime Forum, l’utilisation de l’ammoniac comme carburant pourrait permettre de réduire les émissions “tank-to-wake” de 90 à 95 % sur la base d’essais moteurs à grande échelle, un résultat supérieur aux estimations initiales. Bien que l’adoption à grande échelle soit attendue de façon progressive, ces avancées renforcent la légitimité des armateurs ayant investi dans des constructions neuves à double carburation ou dotées de moteurs conçus pour être convertis.
