Dans le cadre de son plan d'action économique 2024-2027, la Chine prévoit de moderniser les centrales à charbon pour co-combustionner au moins 10 % d'ammoniac d'ici 2027, nécessitant environ 200 millions de tonnes par an de carburant à base d'ammoniac. Un potentiel bouleversement pour les marchés des VLAC Pour accompagner cette transition, le gouvernement chinois accélère le financement et l'autorisation de projets de production d'ammoniac à grande échelle, avec plusieurs usines d'ammoniac renouvelable déjà annoncées. Cette augmentation de la production fera croître les volumes d'échanges d'ammoniac, renforçant ainsi la demande de transport maritime et consolidant les fondamentaux à long terme pour les VLAC.
